One of Pretty Witty POP’s star ingredients is our luscious sugar scrubs is fractionated coconut oil. Why do we love it? For all of its unique properties including organic nourishment for our skin, but especially how it leaves our skin feeling silky smooth!
People have been using coconut oil in so many ways for hundreds of years. We have the historic inventor named Alexander Ashborn to thank for this amazing product.
Ashborn came up with the refined process as we know it today. He received a patent for it on August 21, 1877. The process was very tedious 1800’s, which included filtering, bleaching, and heating it to very high temperatures.
However, his method is still being used today by many food and beauty companies worldwide!! Side note: he also invented a biscuit cutter… but that’s another story!
If you Google how to use coconut oil, and you’ll find hundreds of different uses. Here are some of our favorites:
NATURAL MOUTH WASH
Take a tablespoon of coconut oil and swish it around your mouth for about 15–20 minutes, then spit it out and brush your teeth.

Keep this one in mind for next summer – it’s an excellent insect repellent. Mix coconut oil with either tea tree, rosemary, or peppermint essential oils then massage into skin to ward off those pesky mosquitoes and other summer insects!
Coconut oil is also used to treat and prevent dandruff! Take a tablespoon and directly apply it to your scalp. Comb through thoroughly. Leave it on for just a few minutes to make sure the oil has a chance to penetrate your skin and hair, then rinse it out.
Simply add a little coconut oil to a cotton pad and watch even the most stubborn mascara swipe right off.
